Drew is one of those stories \u2014 a young officer whose life ended in the final, desperate months of World War I.<\/p>\n Lt. Drew served in\u00a0Company K, 141st Infantry<\/strong>, part of the\u00a036th Division<\/strong>, a unit made up largely of Oklahoma and Texas soldiers. In the fall of 1918, the 36th Division was thrust into the Meuse\u2011Argonne Offensive \u2014 the largest and deadliest operation in American military history.<\/p>\n On\u00a0October 8, 1918<\/strong>, Lt. Drew was killed in action.<\/p>\n That date appears again and again on Ardmore\u2019s memorial stones. It was a day of brutal fighting, when the 36th Division pushed through entrenched German positions under machine\u2011gun fire, artillery barrages, and the chaos of a battlefield soaked by weeks of rain and blood.<\/p>\n We don\u2019t know Lt. Drew\u2019s age.<\/p>\n We don\u2019t know his family.<\/p>\n We don\u2019t know the dreams he carried into the war.<\/p>\n But we know this:<\/p>\n He led men into one of the fiercest battles of the Great War.<\/p>\n He served with courage in a division that helped break the German line.<\/p>\n He died far from home, in a war that reshaped the world.<\/p>\n His name, carved into stone more than a century ago, stands as a reminder that leadership is not measured by the length of a life, but by the willingness to stand at the front when it matters most.<\/p>\n Fire Line honors Lt.
