Engineer Steven Decker

Chicago Firefighters Local 2 is grieving the loss of Engineer Steven Decker, who passed away  May 14, 2026 while performing his duties with the unwavering commitment that definedhis career.

Serving with Engine Co. 71, Steven was known for his steady prescence on scene, his deep loyalty to his company, and the quiet professionalism that made him a firefighter others trusted without hesitation.  He stood for the values that built this department – courage, discipline, and brotherhood.

Today, the CFD family, the union, and the City of Chicago mourn a man who gave everything in service to others.  his name now joins the honored ranks of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for this city.

Rest easy, Engineer Decker.
